JOB CLASSIFICATION

Classified position. 240 days, full-time, 40 hours a week, Benefits available

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt 

 

GENERAL DUTIES

  1. Assembles recorded video footage into a finished project that matches the district’s vision and is suitable for broadcasting.Ultimately, as a film and video editor, you should be able to bring sight and sound together in order to tell a cohesive story.
  2. Writes, edits, designs and coordinates the production of district communications such as newsletters and social media posts. 
  3. Provides support in planning, scheduling, coordinating and staffing special system and/or media events including Board of Education meetings, district-level outreach and community events, school tours, press conferences, banquets, exhibits, Open Houses and other events.

Minimum Qualifications

 

Preferred Experience

Minimum of one year of communications experience or an internship in public relations. Must provide a portfolio of video, graphics and writing sample (s). 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee will work in an environment adhering to school board policy. This position may require work hours that vary as a result of evening activities or emergencies. In addition, job requirements may require work on weekends, holidays and attendance at meetings.

JOB GOAL

Serves as the District's chief media person and as an intermediary between school administrators/officials  and  media  professionals in order  to provide  information  on district and school initiatives, activities, policies, and operations.

 

 

Ability to respond  to inquiries  or complaints.   Ability to write  speeches  and articles for publication the conforms to prescribed style and format.   Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and the school board.

 

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or  hear.     The  employee   is  occasionally  required  to  stand,  walk,  reach,  bend  and sometimes lift up to 25 pounds.   Mobility skill are necessary  to access a variety of work locations.
