TITLE: Assistant Transportation  Supervisor

REPORTS TO: Transportation  Supervisor

 

JOB GOAL

To enable each student, through safe and efficient transportation to take full advantage of the complete range of curriculum  and extracurricular activities offered by the districts schools.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY Bus Drivers and Monitors

 

ESSENTIAL  DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Helps to develop and administer a transportation program to meet all the requirements of the daily instructional program and extracurricular activities.

•    Helps to prepare bus routes for all public schools in the district

•    Helps prepare and update bus schedules for all public schools in the district

•    Helps recruit, train and supervise all transportation personnel, and makes recommendations on their employment, transfer, promotion and release

•    Request purchases in accordance  with budgetary limitations and district rules

•    Helps maintain safety standards in conformance with federal, state and insurance regulations

•    Cooperates with school principals and others responsible  for planning special school trips

•    Takes an active role in solving discipline problems occurring on school buses

•    Develops recommendations for future equipment and personnel needs based on a survey of residents students, distances and grade levels

•    Acts as liaison with parents for complaints and special requests

•    Conforms with all state Laws and regulations regarding school transportation

•    Helps advise the Superintendent or his designee on road hazards for decisions on school closing during inclement weather

•    Attends appropriate committee and staff meetings

•    Submits all reports required by the Superintendent

•    Arranges for substitute drivers in emergencies

•    Maintains certification on probable drug and alcohol misuse

•    Performs any other tasks as may be assigned by the Transportation  Supervisor

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in transportation, including two years in a supervisory capacity. Maintains a valid MS Commercial Drivers License with "P" and "S" endorsement. Such alternatives  to the above qualifications as the Superintendent May find appropriate and acceptable.

 

EDUCATION  AND EXPERIENCE

Must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or its equivalent in years of

experience.
