TITLE: Electrician
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor/Assistant Maintenance Supervisor

JOB GOAL: To assist and ensure the smooth and efficient operations of School Services in order to have a positive impact on the education of the children.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Not Applicable
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assumes primary responsibility for the safe condition of lighting fixtures, electrical apparatus, fixtures, wiring, air conditioning and refrigeration units, and similar electric elements in the facilities owned or operated by the district
- Estimates costs of electrical repair projects in terms of labor, material, and overhead
- Performs both minor and major electrical repairs/renovations district wide
- Examines district-owned facilities on a regular basis for purposes of preventive maintenance
- Maintains all safety and code requirements of the State and local Board of Trustees
- Demonstrates an understanding of the district's mission statement and provides support in teaching and inspiring all students to continually pursue knowledge, achieve their aspirations and make positive contributions in a changing world
- Performs any other tasks as may be assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Assistant Maintenance Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS: Possess a valid driver's license. Knowledge of the various skills required in maintenance. Must be certifed as electrician. Three years of experience in maintenance field. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or higher, certified electrican
- LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with parents/community or employees of the district.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climb. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as a tool box. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 90 pounds such as piping, valves, and equipment. The employee will sometimes push/pull items.
- OTHER SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables. A good driving record is necessary. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with students, staff and community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies,
- WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works indoors and will occasionally work outdoors. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, sprays and non-household dust. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.
